Gents to say I’m excited is an understatement I’ve just sold my old ProQ smoker on eBay and it surprised me how much I got for it so I took the plunge and have upped my game to an American Pit Boss Austin XL BBQ Smoker keep an eye on the what’s cooking thread over the summer I’m going in big ??

It has but I tell you what compare Pit Boss with Traega pellet smokers pit boss are streets ahead in spec size and finish and Treaga are mega bucks more last couple of days I’ve read and watched so much it lead me to take a punt on this one Buff BBQ are the main UK suppliers.

Looks the business that mate. 

I've been toying with an upgrade to be honest..  the smoker option is very appealing to me. It's my philosophy in life though of keeping shit simple.. and I'm still climging onto my small basic charcoal bbq, very minimalist but okay for the basics. They only last a few years though.

Get us inspired on  the food thread..... after a few beers i might take the plunge!!

I definitely will try, the thing that appealed to me was the fact you can BBQ normally but also do the long smokes it’s even got a slide thing you pull over to sear the meat it looks techie but once you get your head into it it makes sense, I’m usually quite a traditionalist wood charcoal etc but once I looked into the pellet smokers they make perfect sense.

This is my current simple set up... its dead basic.. and does a simple job well enough but obviously its very limited to what you actually do other than cook the usual bbq staples.   Must admit.. I'm very tempted to  step up!!

Bog basic bbq.. but the wind sheild is important... Aldi/ wilkos charcoal less than £3 a bag.. 

Like i say, basic but goog, but also very limited!!

If it cooks good food for you it’s good news I mean a post DC put up earlier he stuck a stick up a rabbits arse and cooked it, it just shows any out door cooking is great I am a bit fussy with my charcoal I buy specialist stuff from the

See, that's we're i could improve things. I always, usually, buy briquettes.. i know how long they burn for at roughly what temperature.

But they can alter the flavour of the food.. is that right?

I find lump wood burns hoter.. but doesn't last as long as briquettes. 

All pros and cons i suppose mate!! I'll definitely check the webber stuff out!!.... ?

Briquettes especially the cheap ones are bonded together with all sorts of nasties it’s like when people throw the liquid fire lighter over there coals it taints the food Weber’s good I just paid £17.99 yesterday for a 10 kilo bag good stuff in my opinion.
